A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being badly burned in a house fire in County Durham.
The 29-year-old, whose name has not been released, suffered burns to his head and upper body at Dunelm Walk, in Peterlee, on Friday afternoon.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze, which left the semi-detached property badly damaged, is under way.
The injured man was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary. No-one else was hurt.
More than 20 firefighters tackled the fire, which resulted in the neighbouring house being evacuated.
