Cello has invested £1m in the Bishop Auckland factory
TV maker Cello Electronics is creating 100 jobs with the opening of a new factory in County Durham.
The North Yorkshire-based firm, which makes LCD TVs for Marks and Spencer and Argos, plans to produce 300,000 units a year at the site in Bishop Auckland.
The company plans to boost production at the 45,000 sq ft site over the next year to meet export growth in Germany.
Cello chief executive Brian Palmer said the new jobs were "excellent news" for the economy of County Durham.
'Raise the bar'
Mr Palmer said the factory, on the site of a former carpet warehouse, would house production, storage, showroom, offices and after sales service operations.
He added: "Product quality is our driving force, and in particular this has helped us build our business in Germany, where quality is the key pre-requisite to sales.
"For Germany we have to meet standards that go beyond what is expected even from many UK retailers.
"For this reason we have to raise the bar on quality and this has brought great dividends.
"The creation of 100 jobs in Bishop Auckland is excellent news for the local economy and demonstrates our commitment to the UK manufacturing sector."
