The woman was found dead at a house in West Cornforth
Police are investigating the death of a County Durham woman.
Sandra Gill, 50, was found with a head injury at her home in Palm Road, West Cornforth, on Saturday night and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 54-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the death and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Durham Police described it as "very much an isolated incident", and said inquiries were ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.
