A cyclist killed in a crash was a "hard-working, quiet lad, with a big heart" and a keen fan of Darlington FC, his family has said.

Ryan Wilson, 26, died in a collision between his bike and a Honda Accord on Rotary Way, Darlington, on Wednesday.

On its website, Darlington FC said it was saddened by the death and passed on condolences to his family.

It will be holding a minute's silence in his memory before Saturday's home game against Gloucester City.

In a statement, Mr Wilson's family said: "He always wore his Darlington shirt with pride.

"He went to nearly all the matches, both home and away, and kept all the match programmes and tickets."
