A man has been raped in Sunderland city centre.
The 23-year-old was attacked in the Panns Bank area some time after leaving a nightclub in Holmeside in the early hours but before 05:30 BST, police said.
His mobile phone - a gold-coloured iPhone 6 - and a leather wallet were also stolen.
Northumbria Police said specialist officers are working with the man to provide support.
