Sarrah Garba was a student at Newcastle College
A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in a house in Gateshead.
Sarrah Garba was pronounced dead at the property in Moore Street in Felling on Wednesday afternoon.
The 27-year-old, originally from France, was a student at Newcastle College and had been living in the North East for the past 18 months.
Northumbria Police said the last confirmed sighting of her was a week ago, and appealed for information.
A spokesman for the force said: "We need to build up a picture of her movements since that day and want to hear from anyone who might have seen, or spoke to Sarrah in the last week, as soon as possible."
