The Earl of Cardigan has appeared in court charged with assaulting a trustee of his Savernake estate in Wiltshire.
The earl, David Brudenell-Bruce, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on Tuesday accused of assaulting John Moore, 66, in Marlborough.
The 59-year-old earl has also been charged with criminal damage to a Mitsubishi car belonging to the Savernake Estate on 17 May.
He denies the charges and is due to stand trial in Salisbury on 5 October.
Disputed his claim
In February, the earl lost a High Court battle to stop portraits of his ancestors being sold to raise funds.
He had claimed he was entitled to "use of the paintings" under the terms of a lease.
But trustees of the 4,500-acre Savernake Estate near Marlborough disputed his claim and said the paintings were not part of the lease.
The High Court judge ruled against the earl at a hearing in London.
