The letter was sent to Downing Street in April
A man has been fined for sending a letter to the prime minister said to contain a threat to burn down a mosque.
Brian Brown, from Claremont Street in Belfast, was convicted last month of posting the message to Downing Street.
The 51-year-old had denied a charge of sending a threatening article to David Cameron with the purpose of causing him distress or anxiety.
A second count of threatening to damage property - a mosque - was dropped due to the perceived duplication.
Brown was said to have sent the letter on a date between 1 April and 10 April.
Entry
Defence lawyers had said the letter was never intended to cause any distress.
Instead, it was claimed that Brown acted out of frustration over the plight of his partner in Sri Lanka.
According to his lawyer he had first written to the prime minister in a bid to help her gain entry to the UK.
Brown appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Wednesday for sentencing and the imposed a £500 fine.
Brown was also ordered to pay a £15 offender levy.
