The Belfast to Reykjavik route will run three times a week from George Best Belfast City Airport
An airline new to Northern Ireland is to launch flights to Icelandic capital Reykjavik next June.
Icelandair will operate the year-round service from George Best Belfast City Airport.
It will run three times a week using a 72-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
The airport's marketing director Katy Best said: "This announcement acts as a major fillip for the local aviation sector."
Reykjavik is also served as a destination from Belfast International by Easyjet.
Economy Minister Simon Hamilton said the new service is "an important step" as Northern Ireland looks to build its connectivity.
The flights will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
