Student worries that Scottish exams are 'too easy'

The debate about alleged dumbing down in schools took an unexpected turn this week when a 15-year-old student had her personal concerns raised in the Scottish Parliament.

Scottish Conservative education spokesperson Mary Scanlon MSP raised the issue after seeing a newspaper article where Flora Scarabello had expressed concern that today's exams are not rigorous enough.

Flora said the replacements for standard grades were too easy and wants a return to more traditional values.

BBC Scotland's education correspondent Jamie McIvor has been to meet her.
