Glasgow 2014: Expert questions Games sporting legacy
A leading academic has told BBC Scotland that it is ''unrealistic'' to think there will be any sport legacy as a result of Glasgow 2014.
The city's council wanted the 20th Commonwealth Games to inspire residents to become physically active and participate in sport while those involved in bringing the event to the city promised a sporting legacy.
Professor Leigh Robinson, head of sport at Stirling University, told the BBC: "I really hope that Glasgow has a legacy but it would be unusual. Most cities find that, after the first year, participation drops away, people stop using the facilities because they just move on."
