School uniform grants 'vary widely' across Scotland
Research by BBC Scotland has found that the value of grants to help families on low incomes pay for school clothing varies substantially across Scotland.
The average grant for a secondary school pupil is £58, which is less than the £70 recommended by a Scottish government working group.
Only six out of the 32 council areas in Scotland meet that target, with most councils failing to increase the grants in the past decade.
BBC Scotland education correspondent Jamie McIvor reports.
