Erin Sutherland sentenced for smothering baby daughter
A mother who smothered her baby after being denied help for postnatal depression has been jailed for three years pending successful psychiatric treatment.
Erin Sutherland pleaded guilty to killing her almost 10-month-old daughter Chloe in February at their home in Longstone, Edinburgh.
The judge said it was regrettable that the support she needed for her depression was not made available but that she still acted in a way society finds abhorrent.
