A man has been arrested over an attack in South Lanarkshire which resulted in the alleged victim requiring hospital treatment for a fractured skull.
The 25-year-old was walking with a female friend when he was attacked in High Street, Lanark, shortly after midnight on Friday.
Police Scotland said that a 27-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident.
He was due to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
