Two men are to stand trial over an armed robbery at the home of a hotel and restaurant boss in North Ayrshire.

Darren Rooney, 28, and Jamie Shaw, 38, are alleged to have raided Gordon Craig's home in Largs in August 2014.

It is alleged they used a gun or fake firearm, tied up the 49-year-old and stole £33,000 in cash and a Rolex watch.

During an appearance at the High Court in Glasgow, Mr Rooney and Mr Shaw denied charges of assault and robbery.

A trial date was set for June.

The allegations include a claim that Mr Craig's wrists were bound with cable.

It is also claimed Mr Craig had tape put over his eyes, mouth and around his ankles before being pushed onto a pool table.
