A 76-year-old man who was knocked down by a bus in Glasgow city centre in May has died.

Brian Rose, from Newcastle, and his 72-year-old wife were hit by the bus in Queen Street.

Mr Rose died yesterday in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Mrs Rose is being treated in a hospital closer to her family and is recovering from her injuries.

The couple were struck by a First Glasgow double-decker at the corner of Argyle and Queen Street on 29 May.

Eyewitnesses described "horrific" and "hysterical" scenes in the aftermath. A police investigation is continuing.

The bus driver was uninjured but said to be extremely shaken as a result of the incident.
