A man is in a critical condition in hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the M77 in Ayrshire.
The accident happened at 13:40 when a red Ford Fiesta was involved in a collision with a white Renault Kangoo.
A 75-year-old man, who was the rear seat passenger of the Fiesta, was taken to hospital in Glasgow after suffering serious injuries.
Police said the accident happened on the northbound carriageway near Junction 7, Fenwick.
The 44-year-old female driver of the Fiesta and her 15-year-old passenger were taken to Hairmyres Hospital but were released after treatment.
The 26-year-old male driver of the Kangoo suffered head and chest injuries which were not thought to be serious, and was also taken to the hospital.
Police said several cars had stopped due to road works when the crash happened, and appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
The M77 was closed in both directions until 16:30 when the southbound carriageway re-opened.
The northbound carriageway was expected to open later on Wednesday evening.
