A man has tried to escape from a courtroom after he was told he would be remanded into custody before trial.

Kenneth Porter jumped over the dock and a tall glass screen at Glasgow Sheriff Court and ran towards the door.

He was stopped by police officers and court workers before he could get out of the basement of the building.

The 17 year-old from Maryhill, Glasgow, was answering charges relating to a stolen car and dangerous driving.

He was also accused of driving while over the legal drink drive limit and without a driving licence.

Mr Porter denied the charges and was told he was remanded until a trial set for next year.
