An armed robber has raided a shop in Barrhead.
Police said the man entered Shopsmart on Springhill Road with a bladed weapon at about 17:15 on Thursday and threatened the shopkeeper.
He got away with a three-figure sum of cash. The suspect is described as white, about six feet (1.8m) tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a grey hooded top, with the hood and a scarf covering his face.
He was also wearing purple/burgundy shorts, red and black trainers and he was carrying a black and white polythene bag.
Det Sgt Raymond Hunter, of Police Scotland, said: "Luckily nobody was hurt during this incident but it was still a very frightening experience for the shopkeeper.
"Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and examining CCTV footage. Patrols have also been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
"I would appeal to anyone with information about this incident to contact police."
