Two men armed with a knife tried to steal a sports bag from another man at a shopping centre.
Police say the incident took place at around 17:00 on Wednesday at the Glasgow Fort.
The 35-year-old victim was approached by two other men near to the disabled bays by the McChan's chinese takeaway.
The men brandished a knife and tried to steal the man's sports bag before they got into a black Golf car and drove off erratically towards Auchinlea Road.
The first suspect was described as in his mid 20s, about 5ft 6ins tall, of a gaunt appearance and with tanned skin.
He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, black trainers with a white trim and he was holding the knife.
The second man was also in his mid 20s, about 5ft 11ins tall and of slim build.
He was wearing a black hooded top and what is thought to have been a hat.
Det Con Joseph Keith of Police Scotland said: "This was a very distressing experience for the victim who has been left badly shaken by what happened.
"The Glasgow Fort will have been busy with people going to and from their cars at the time and I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact police immediately."
