Police have appealed for help in tracing a vulnerable 45-year-old woman who has gone missing in Helensburgh.

Karen Harvey was last seen in the Argyll town's East Clyde Street, near its junction with Station Road, at about 06:00 on Friday.

She was heading in the direction of Hermitage Academy, towards Cardross.

Ms Harvey is described as white, about 5ft 4in tall and of slim build. She has blonde hair with brown roots showing and a tanned complexion.

She was last seen wearing a light coloured top, a light grey cardigan, green tracksuit bottoms and visible fluorescent pink neon socks.

Insp Coleen Wylie, of Police Scotland, said: "It is unlike Karen not to be in contact and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.

"If you think you have seen her in the area or have any information that can assist us please contact us."

"Officers, including the force helicopter, are currently searching for Karen in the Helensburgh area, checking CCTV and contacting people who know her to try and trace Karen safe and well."
