Police are attempting to trace three youths after a man was attacked on a canal bank path in West Dunbartonshire.

The 24-year-old victim was approached by the group on the path between Whitecrook and Linnvale, in Clydebank, at about 11:45 on Sunday 30 October.

One of the youths assaulted him with a weapon before making off from the area.

The man was treated for a serious facial injury at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Det Sgt Gerald Shovlin said: "The canal bank will have been busy with walkers and cyclists at the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to get in touch."
