The Duke of Edinburgh officially opened the new Highlanders' museum last year
More than a thousand people have signed a petition protesting about a change in the name of a revamped military museum.
Queen's Own Highlanders veterans fear their regiment will be forgotten as the Queen's Own part has gone and the name shortened to Highlanders' Museum.
Bosses of the museum at Fort George, at Ardersier, said the name reflected the history of all the Highland regiments represented in its collections.
Redeveloped at a cost of £2.9m, it was opened last year with the new title.
The museum is dedicated to the Cameron Highlanders, Seaforth Highlanders, Queen's Own Highlanders and their affiliated regiments.
Actor Hugh Grant was among those who supported the fundraising campaign for the revamp.
His grandfather was depot commander at Fort George after World War II.
Col James Murray Grant, from Inverness, received the Distinguished Service Order for bravery during the war while serving with the Seaforth Highlanders.
The film star's father, Capt James Murray Grant, served with a Highlands regiment.
The Duke of Edinburgh officially opened reopened the museum in March 2013.
