Highland councillors have backed a planning application for a new Marks and Spencer outlet in Fort William.
The Simply Food store will be part of a £10m retail project on North Road, after the council approved a change of use for the unit.
Morbaine, the developers of the site, have said Aldi and Home Bargains are already confirmed tenants.
Construction on the site is scheduled to begin in early 2016.
The retail park will open for business in time for Christmas 2016. The developers have said it would create up to 150 permanent jobs.
Lochaber councillor Bill Clarke said the council had been responsible for many of the delays over the years in developing the site.
He said: "It wasn't the planners' finest hour, nor was it Lochaber councillors' finest decision. That is something we can rectify today."
