NHS Highland asked to submit plan for services redesign

  • Published

The Scottish government has asked NHS Highland to submit an outline business case for the redesign of health services in Badenoch and Strathspey.

The health board plans to build a new hospital and health centre in Aviemore and revamp services at care homes in Grantown on Spey and Kingussie.

Drawing up of an outline business case forms part of the process towards implementing the redesign.

A site has still to be bought for the planned £12m hospital.

NHS Highland said it hoped to be able to purchase land next year and start construction in 2017. The hospital could be completed by late 2019.

Previously, the health board had hoped to have the hospital open in December 2018.
