A bogus workman pushed his way past an 84-year-old disabled woman into her Dundee home and stole her handbag.
The "frail" woman answered her door to a man between 11:00 and 11:30 on Sunday morning.
Tayside Police said she made a "vain attempt" to stop the man taking the bag, which contained hundreds of pounds.
He left the Clement Park Place house in a rusty white Transit van being driven by another man.
Police said the thief was "scruffy looking" and was wearing a high-visibility jacket. He waved a piece of paper in front of the woman before brushing past her into her home.
He was wearing a dark floppy hat with flaps at the side and had a one or two-week-old auburn beard.
Detectives said he had been seen earlier in the street, directing the van into a space between cars. The driver was about 30 and had dark unkempt hair. He was wearing a sleeveless hi-visibility jacket.
The woman was "extremely distressed" but uninjured, police said.
