The collection going under the hammer in Dundee contains more than 1,000 medals
A collection of medals charting 150 years of UK military history is to go up for auction in Dundee.
The huge collection of more than 1,000 medals includes awards given to soldiers for campaigns in South Africa in 1862 as well as both world wars.
Experts at Curr and Dewar Auctioneers believe the collection, which has been split into 138 lots, could fetch a total of up to £15,000.
The collection was pieced together over years by a man from the Tayside area.
The collector died about four years ago, and his family have now decided to auction off the medals.
The items up for sale include a book of remembrance for hundreds of men killed in the First World War, all of whom were former pupils of Dundee's Morgan Academy.

Included in the auction is a Roll of Honour for ex-pupils of Morgan Academy killed in the First World War
Auctioneer Steven Dewar said he expected a large amount of interest from collectors of military memorabilia.
He said: "It was a private collector who built it up over a lifetime.
"The collection goes right from the Victorian era right through to the First and Second World Wars to the Gulf and Afghan conflicts of recent years.
"The pre-sale estimate for the whole collection is between £10,000 and £15,000."
The auction takes place at Curr and Dewar's salesroom in Dundee on Tuesday, 22 September.
