Deputy Farming Minister Rebecca Evans says farmers should be rewarded for 'quality produce'

Dairy farmers in Wales campaigning against low milk prices have been promised government action to help tackle their problems.

Deputy Farming Minister Rebecca Evans was joining her counterparts from across the UK for a crisis meeting with the National Farmers' Union in London.

Ms Evans said it was "clearly a challenging period" for Welsh farmers.

She welcomed supermarket pledges to pay more for milk but urged them to improve contracts for milk used for cheese.

"We continue to work closely with the industry in Wales to ensure our producers are rewarded for their quality produce," she said ahead of the meeting on Monday.
