Migrant stories: Latifah, Ahmed and family

Latifah, her husband Ahmed and their three young sons fled war-torn Syria looking for a new start in Europe.

Now making their way on foot to Budapest in Hungary, the family, from Deraa in southern Syria, has been on the road for many months, hoping to reach Germany.

Here, they describe their journey, which has taken them through underground tunnels and on two boat trips across the Mediterranean - the first of which ended in disaster.
