Live: Russian FM Sergei Lavrov news briefing

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is holding a news briefing, one day after Russia launched air strikes in Syria.

Russian defence officials say they carried out about 20 missions against the so-called Islamic State group (IS) on Wednesday but the US expressed fears the targets were non-IS opponents of Russia's ally, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The briefing, held at the UN in New York, comes at the end of Russia's Presidency of the Security Council.
