Violent clashes continue between Cairo police and protesters

Protesters and police have clashed in Cairo, as Egyptians demand more jobs, cheaper food and less corruption in government.

Riot police fired tear gas and water cannon as they tried to break up the crowds who were chanting slogans against President Mubarak.

At least three people have died in the violence, which follows similar protests in Tunisia.

The BBC's Jon Leyne reports from Cairo where he was caught up in a running battle between police and protesters.
