The cruiser was drifting through waters off Herm's north-west coast
Seven people have been rescued from a boat that was drifting through treacherous waters off the Channel Island of Herm.
The States of Guernsey was alerted at 22:00 BST on Saturday that a cabin cruiser had left Herm Harbour in a "cloud of black exhaust smoke".
It drifted through rocks off the north-west coast and the States said "grave concern was raised for their safety".
They were rescued by the Spirit of Guernsey lifeboat at about 23:30.
The Herm Ferry alerted the coastguard but was unable to help rescue those onboard because the cruiser was too close to the rocks and reef.
No-one was injured and the lifeboat towed the boat to safety.
A States spokesman said the area where the vessel was drifting was "treacherous".
