Free student travel may be introduced on Guernsey from January

Free travel for all students is one of the options included in proposed changes to the fare structure and routes for Guernsey's buses.

The island's bus company CT Plus said free student travel would show young people buses were an attractive and useful method of transport.

Under the proposals CT Plus said commuters could have unlimited travel for £18 a month.

It said the cash fare would remain at £1 during the day and £2 at night.

Proposed route changes include closing the P1 parish link service and replacing it with a P2 link from the Bridge to L'Aumone or the Princess Elizabeth Hospital running Monday to Saturday.

Free student travel could be introduced in January and residents can comment on the plans by contacting the States before 21 October.
