It's anti-bullying week, and all week Newsround will be looking at the big issues and how to tackle them.

Bullying affects most children at some point in their lives. In 2013 alone, more than 40,000 children called the charity Childline to talk about it.

Today we're talking about homophobic bullying and on Wednesday we visit a school in Denmark with strict rules on friendship to beat bullying.

On Thursday, we'll talk about friendship and how to be a better friend.

If you're worried about bulling or need advice, there's loads of information in the iWonder guide Am I A Bully?

Have a place where the bully has to go each week to talk about why they are bullying and try to discuss ways of channelling their problems rather than bullying.

Form 7W2, Sir William Stanier, Crewe

I think bullying should be against the law, because it is wrong and people will just keep on doing it unless they are made to stop. Everybody should be allowed to be who they want, without the fear of being bullied.

Leo, Woking

I think bullying happens because people are angry or upset so they take it out on other people. I think teachers could be doing a much better job at controlling bullying. I also think it's the parents responsibility to teach their children how to behave so we need to put in more support for families and parents.

Daniel, Coventry

I think bulling is terrible because it makes the person who is being bullied feel embarrassed and sad. I was bullied for many years but I have moved on.

Erica

I think your head teacher should have an assembly and say if you are being bullied tell your teacher at lunch or break.

Poppy

I think everybody should listen to Leondre & Charlie from Bars & Melody singing there Hopeful song. Also they can stop bullying quicker at schools if they put CCTV cameras around the school to see if everything is ok.

Zak, Wrexham

I've been bullied myself and it's a hard time but you will get through it. It won't go on forever. I think that the government and village halls should set up workshops for the bullies and the people who are being bullied should work together and ask questions.

Abbie, Telford

I think bullying should be stopped by talking to the bullies and telling them what the children that are being bullied think.

Fergus, Telford

If you think you are the cause of bullying say sorry as soon as you can and try not to do it again.

From Primary 4CB, Edinburgh

Tell an adult quickly before it gets to big.

Daniel, Ipswich

Bullying can be stopped if you tell someone you trust. Parents need to know as well as your friends and they can tell your school.

Poppy

I think teachers should do a lesson about bullying and say 'don't be embarrassed to talk about it to someone.'

Conor, Cornwall, England

I think it's really important to tell an adult, parent or a friend, or the situation could get worse and more people could get bullied.

Lois, Shropshire, England

I'm an anti-bullying leader at my school and my top tips are: tell somebody straight away, don't be mean back, and NEVER believe what they are saying!

Libby, Manchester, England

I think that there should be a tell a teacher station where children can press a button to get a grownups attention if they are being bullied in the playground.

Jessica, London, England

People in our community who have been bullied should have the chance to share with others about how they have been bullied and share ways of standing up to bullies!

Rhiannon, Iver Village School

I think bullying happens at break time and lunch. So I think that younger kids should go for their breaks at different times to avoid bullying.

We have found that the following things work: Taking away a bully's privileges and trying to find out why they are doing it, taking it further than just school, telling your parents and teaching people how to get on by making sure they interact with each other, create friendship and talk to their friends about it.

Year 6, Howard Park School

We could put security cameras up in schools and use CCTV to stop bullying.

Diddy, Class 3D, Iver Village School

You should walk away and tell an adult what is happening because it can affect school work and everyday life.

Lois,Oldmeldrum, Scotland

We could tell people to stop calling us names and stand up to bullies!

Cody, Class 3D, Iver Village School
