HEATING YOUR HOME
Heating oil customers are facing another expensive winter, despite government promises to improve regulation of the sector. Around 1.5 million UK households rely on heating oil and are not covered by the same energy price cap protections as gas and electricity customers. Ministers have pledged reforms following concerns about soaring prices, cancelled orders and minimum order requirements, but there is no indication of when changes will take effect.
Are you worried about heating your home this winter? And, if you rely on heating oil, how does the cost compare with last year?

PUBS
64 pubs in Scotland have closed so far in 2026, with hospitality owners citing rising business rates, employment costs, energy bills and changing customer habits.
Has Scotland fallen out of love with the pub? Or are pubs becoming too expensive to survive?

ONLINE GAMING
New research from Ofcom suggests more than half of children who play games online are playing with people they have never met in person.
Would you let your child play online games with people they've never met? Are we too quick to demonise online gaming?

GRANDPARENTS
A grandmother from Prestwick who is set to make history at the Miss Great Britain beauty pageant has said she wants other women to see that getting older does not mean 'disappearing'.
Whether it's 'King of the Hidden Fiver'; The ‘Always Had a Cup of Tea Ready’ Award; 'Most likely to have a mint humbug at the bottom of her bag' or a 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Looking After Everyone Else'... What award would you hand out to your Grandparent?
