Piano Mondays: Giorgi Gigashvili

Piano music by Robert and Clara Schumann and Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, plus a sonata by Shostakovich, played by the recent Radio 3 New Generation Artist Giorgi Gigashvili.

The brilliant young Georgian pianist Giorgi Gigashvili heard in a programme which ranges from the poetic voices of Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn and Clara and Robert Schumann to an atmospheric sonata by Shostakovich and on to a hard-hitting short sonata by Galina Ustvolskaya. And, before the evening was out, Giorgi charmed his Luxembourg audience by singing a folk song from his homeland.

Recorded earlier this year in the Chamber Music Hall of the Luxembourg Philharmonie and presented by Sarah Walker.
