An Autumnal Sunday Morning Soundtrack
Join Sarah Walker for a Sunday mix, from Baroque brilliance and medieval choral music to Russian symphonic drama, plus a little encouragement to enjoy that extra hour in bed.
This week, Sarah Walker brings together a Sunday morning mix that moves from the irresistible rhythms of Cuba to the grandeur of Bach, with some musical discoveries, familiar favourites and, appropriately enough, a little encouragement to stay in bed.
There's a new release featuring Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona, the infectious energy of Bach's Third Brandenburg Concerto, and a chance to discover the music of British composer Cipriani Potter.
Sarah also travels back to 14th-century France for this week's Choral Reflection, with Guillaume de Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame, performed by Chanticleer.
And with the clocks going back overnight, today's Sunday Sequence explores music for sleep, with a gentle lullaby from Leo Brouwer, a nocturne by Chopin and the atmospheric sounds of Max Richter.
Plus, time to linger a little longer with Glazunov's Fourth Symphony, a richly coloured work full of melody and orchestral invention.
