Jumoké Fashola sits in

Broadcaster, jazz singer and actor Jumoké Fashola is sitting in for Soweto Kinch this week, and tonight she welcomes her Flowers guest, cellist and singer Ayanna Witter-Johnson.

All this week, broadcaster, jazz singer and actor Jumoké Fashola is sitting in for Soweto Kinch, sharing some of her favourite new releases and jazz classics from the UK and around the world.

Jumoké has presented programmes across BBC Radio 1, 2, 3 and 4 and currently presents Inspirit and Fridays at 2pm on BBC London. Jumoké also hosts the London Jazz Festival's opening gala 'Jazz Voice', which is broadcast on BBC Radio 3. As a jazz singer, she has performed alongside Dionne Warwick and Bobby McFerrin.

From Monday to Thursday this week, Jumoké welcomes cellist, singer-songwriter and pianist Ayanna Witter-Johnson as her Flowers guest. Ayanna's music blends classical, jazz, reggae, soul and R&B, and her work work has been commissioned for ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

To begin her week on Flowers spotlighting some of the artists that continue to inspire her, Ayanna chooses to celebrate a pioneering British saxophonist.

Also in the programme, there is music from Carmen Lundy, Sarah Heneghan, and Robin Mullarkey.
