Owain Wyn Evans

Radio 2's very own Owain Wyn Evans joins Vernon to choose ten songs from his life, ahead of taking on his epic 4 Nations Cycle Challenge for Children In Need.

Presenter and drummer extraordinaire Owain Wyn Evans joins Vernon to choose ten songs from his life, including songs by The Carpenters, Green Day and Britney Spears.

Owain joins Vernon ahead of his 4 Nations Cycle Challenge this November in aid of BBC Children In Need. Owain will be taking on the greatest distance ever covered in a Radio 2 fundraising challenge - starting in Glasgow, Owain’s five-day cycle mission begins on Monday 9 November, and will see him pedal nearly 400 miles through Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and his home country of Wales, before his journey reaches its grand finale in central Cardiff on Friday 13 November.

Owain grew up in Ammanford in South Wales and began to learn to play drums as a teenager, first starting his broadcaster career in Welsh language TV soon after leaving school. He then took an interest in meteorology and became a weather presenter. Then there was a life-changing moment when, during the COVID-19 lockdowns, a video of him drumming to the BBC News theme went viral. A year later he took on his first Children In Need challenge - a 24-hour drumathon which raised over £3.8 million. Owain joined Radio 2 in 2022 as the presenter of the early breakfast show, broadcast from Cardiff.
