Gaza's Ceasefire Summer

The Fifth Floor

Available for over a year

BBC Eye Investigations and the World Service's Arabic Forensics team have published a film called Gaza's Ceasefire Summer, capturing what life is like for families in Gaza today, across a summer of ceasefire and near daily bombardment. Lina Shaikhouni and Wesam Abumaraq join Faranak to talk about how the film was made. Vladimir Putin has said Russia is prepared to use all weapons if it considers that Kaliningrad, its territory on the Baltic Sea, is under direct attack. The territory is an exclave of Russia, which means that (though under Russian control) it is separate from the Russian mainland. Sergey Goryashko of BBC Russian explains why Putin would be prepared to defend this tiny parcel of land with nuclear weapons and why it is such a source of worry for NATO countries. Ghana is a devoutly Christian country and preachers on public transport have long been part of the fabric of everyday life. But a recently-passed law looked like it would call time on the practice... until it was rapidly rolled back. A government spokesperson told the BBC there was a need to reconsider the regulation following concerns raised by religious leaders. Thomas Naadi from the BBC's Accra Bureau tell us more about this practice in Ghana. This episode of The Documentary comes to you from The Fifth Floor, the show at the heart of global storytelling, with BBC journalists from all around the world. Presented by Faranak Amidi.
