Pep Guardiola has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Bournemouth.

Here are the key lines from the Manchester City boss:

  • He said Erling Haaland was not disappointed to finish second behind Lionel Messi in the men's Ballon d'Or: " I saw him so happy to win the award he won and be a contender close to [Kylian] Mbappe and [Lionel] Messi. He has all his career ahead of him."

  • After City were named club of the year at the awards for the second year running, he added: "It was a good night [for the club]. It's so important for us because we have not been in the past many times."

  • On if it's getting harder to win the Premier League, he said: "Every season is tougher compared with when I arrived. Better managers, better teams. This is the challenge."

  • He added: "We are close. We still have 28 games to play and a lot of things are going to happen."

  • Guardiola praised Jeremy Doku: "He listens, he improves and he gets it immediately. From the beginning, his impact was massive."

  • On Bournemouth: "They competed really well against Liverpool. Andoni [Iraola] is an incredible manager, playing offensive, attractive. Hopefully, we can continue doing a good performance."
