McInnes on contrasting form, unpredictable league & sickness bug

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes has been speaking to the media before his side's Premiership game with Motherwell this weekend.

Here are the key points from his press conference:

  • McInnes was “trying to show faith” in players by making no changes for the midweek loss at St Johnstone after an impressive win over Aberdeen in the previous outing.

  • While pleased with Killie's home record, he needs to “take a look” at their away form and tactics.

  • He hopes struggling Motherwell wait until next week to find their “best form” as he says “this league is so unpredictable”.

  • McInnes wants his players to focus on their own performance and says “we've got a points tally we set ourselves and we've got work to do to meet the tally” as they’ve collected six points out of nine since the international break.

  • Settling into a “brilliant dressing room” at Rugby Park has helped Kyle Vassell flourish.

  • McInnes praised David Watson’s progression and improvement and says “he always gives everything, he plays on the front foot and he is fully committed with everything he does”.

  • There’s a bug going around the camp which “two or three of the boys have fallen victim to” so they will “see how things are in 24 hours”.
