Mikel Arteta praised Ben White and Eddie Nketiah with the Arsenal pair both on the verge of marking significant milestones with the club.

White is set to make his 100th Gunners appearance, while Nketiah is in line for his 100th Premier League game.

On White and his journey, Arteta said: "He's progressed in the right way in the last few years. He had a difficult start which is normal. It was a big jump with different expectations.

"He showed a lot of determination and courage to overcome that. He has been a key player for us. He's got a big personality, copes with pressure really well and has a lot of quality in different position.

"He's a really good character in the way he is and how he presents himself. He loves football and the way he trains, applies himself and plays the game in a top way."

On a potential new deal for White, Arteta added: "We're always trying to keep the squad in a healthy position, and we're working on that."

On Nketiah, Arteta said: "He has earned the right. We tried to explain what his role was in the team and the opportunities he would have, like any other player in relation to his performances.

"The fact he has played that many games is down to his own performances, and the reasons he has given us to trust him."
