Joining Rangers was the best decision James Tavernier has ever made, according to his brother Marcus.

The Ibrox captain has came in for criticism in recent weeks, but his brother, who plays for Bournemouth, says the god-like treatment the 31-year-old receives is nothing he has seen before.

He admitted he's only attended one Old Firm derby, the 2016 Scottish Cup final where Rangers defeated Celtic on penalties, but he's "never experienced anything like that in terms of atmosphere in a game," he told Sky Sports., external

"It's crazy. The fans up there worship their players like they are gods - it's just different," he added.

"It's the best decision he has made in his career going up there and being a part of that."

The 24-year-old also said his big brother is always there to lend a hand, share experiences with him and give advice.

"He's been a big part of my journey and my career up to date. He's been through a lot of things, which he's been able to help me with before I go through them myself so he's my biggest support," he added.

"When things haven't going my way, he's the first person I'll call to get his advice."
