Aberdeen manager Barry Robson says he is looking forward to taking on Tony Docherty's Dundee, having worked with him during his eight-year spell at Pittodrie as assistant manager to Derek McInnes.

"Top guy and a top coach," Robson said of the Dundee manager.

"I'm really pleased for him that he's a manager now. He's someone who I worked closely with for a lot of years.

"I learned from Tony certain things. I know his team will be organised. I've watched them a lot over the last couple of weeks. Very good at set-splays. I think their last four goals have been set-plays.

"It's a game we're really looking forward to and we're in a good place going into it. So let's try to impose ourselves on the game and what we can bring, and see if we can get a good result."

Asked about the importance of a home win given his side have only won once at Pittodrie this season, Robson said: "We've had some good performances at home, some very good ones. We're just looking forward to bringing another good performance at home.

"What you expect when people come up to Pittodrie is to try and beat us. Everybody does that and for me, Dundee are well organised and structured.

"Whether they come with a back four or back five, we don't know yet. But what we do know is what we're good at and we know we'll bring it to the table.

"A Tony Docherty team will come up here fighting, just as a Steven McLean team does or any team that comes up here.

"We need to make sure Pittodrie is a place teams don't enjoy playing."
