Manchester United technical director Darren Fletcher is thrilled with Will Fish’s progress at Hibs, hailing the 20-year-old as a “revelation”.

United defender Fish has blossomed at Easter Road where he is enjoying his second season-long loan stint.

“It’s been fantastic, a really good loan experience,” Fletcher told Hibs TV. “A bit slow in the beginning but I think that was part of the plan from both Hibs and Man United.

“Hibs had Ryan Porteous, who was planning to leave in January, so Will had to bide his time. He got to know the city, the club, the style of play for the first few months and then from Christmas onwards he got into the team and has been a revelation since.

“That’s the reason we and Will decided we’d send him back for another season. We felt he was progressing really well, he got a number of games, and deserved the chance to go up there and play some more.

“They qualified for Europe and the story with Hibs wasn’t finished yet. It’s still an important part of his development which is going really well and going to plan. So credit to him and Hibs, it’s been a good relationship.”
