Mayo keen to repay Killie's faith in him

Lewis Mayo "hasn’t looked back" since making the “positive” decision to move permanently to Kilmarnock in the summer, as he outlines his international ambitions.
The 23-year-old impressed on-loan last season in Ayrshire, and has cranked it up a notch this campaign, looking assured in Derek McInnes' defence.
“I think I’m in a good place right now," the former Rangers youth player said. "It was good for me to get a break over the summer and come back fresh for pre-season, as I didn’t get that last year.
“The club has put a lot of faith in me. I feel the benefit of playing regularly and I think that I learn from that as well, I feel really settled here.
“For me, it has been very positive so far. Since coming back here, I’ve not looked back. I feel that this season I’ve been building on last season.
“I enjoyed playing under the manager last season and knew exactly what he was all about.
“It was exciting to come back to Kilmarnock and be part of a club that’s looking to improve themselves. You can see that the last couple of seasons, the team is improving every year. As a team we want to be climbing the table, being as positive as we can and looking for a top six or European spot at the end of the season. That’s our real ambition.
“Personally, and in the long-term, I’ve played for the Scotland youth set-ups, so I would love to work towards getting a call up, that would mean everything to me. That’s something I’ve got to be patient with and keep working away at.”
