Callum Wilson has jokingly dubbed himself "One-Take Wilson" after admitting he was fortunate to score his penalty against Wolves on Saturday.

The 31-year-old has a fine record from the spot but saw his effort hit keeper Jose Sa's hand before bundling into the net at Molineux.

He told the Footballer's Football Podcast that the fact it went in was all that mattered.

"Did it go in? Is my record intact?" he laughed. "By my standards it was not great and I need to be taking them better than that.

"Anyway, I was already running in for a rebound to put it in and would have been first there to put it in. But I don't need no rebounds - I'm 'One-Take Wilson'!"

The England forward has scored 15 out of 16 Premier League penalties and has not missed since August 2018.

He revealed he intentionally gets out of the way when the furore is happening before the spotkick is taken, leaving co-host Rickie Haywood-Williams to query if he is "hiding".

"Go easy! The only time I hide is when I am in trouble at home," he said. "The penalty spot is where people are bickering, arguing, kicking it and asking where I am going to go.

"I take myself away and go over to the side so that people cannot try and get in my head. I remember one time Aaron Ramsdale followed me all the way to the halfway line telling me he knew where I was going and trying to get me to laugh.

"Teams try to put you off, so your job is to stay as professional as you can."
