Tino Livramento "looks a great buy" for Newcastle United after impressing on his European debut for Eddie Howe's side, according to former Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
The 20-year-old, along with Lewis Hall and Lewis Miley, made his first Champions League appearance in Tuesday's loss to Borussia Dortmund.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily, Lennon said: "I thought Hall was unlucky he got a yellow card early in the first 10 minutes - that was unfortunate and Howe took the opportunity to take him off at half-time and pep up the front three with Gordon and Almiron.
"But Livramento was outstanding. That’s the third time I’ve seen him live and he’s impressed me every time.
"He’s a wonderful mover, a great athlete and very good on the ball. It just shows you what they think of him because Kieran Trippier was struggling a little bit at left-back and they swapped sides and brought Livramento in to play left-back.
"He did a great job. Not only his defending, his game in general - his passing, his opportunities to break forward, his athleticism.
"He looks a great buy."
