Manchester United fan Adam Paterson said "I'm delighted for the two players that have been getting quite a lot of stick recently" after Harry Maguire and Andre Onana's performances against FC Copenhagen.

After both coming under criticism recently, Maguire scored the only goal and Onana saved a late penalty in Tuesday's Champions League win.

Reflecting on the game, Paterson told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Overall in the first half we were really poor. We looked devoid of ideas and it was really slow and passive. Copenhagen were cutting through.

"The changes Ten Hag made in the second half really did impact everything that happened. Eriksen coming on was key. He was one of our best ball players in the middle and he allowed our defence to transition to attack. That’s a player that was missed for a while and it’s just a shame his legs are going because he is a truly excellent player.

"Overall it was a little bit concerning but we got the win in the end. In a cup competition it doesn’t matter how you play, just win the game.

"Onana was really good in terms of his shot-stopping. The moment at the end, moments like that can change a season. Maybe not for a team, but it can definitely change it for a player.

"Harry Maguire has been excellent in the last three games and he’s capped that off with a goal. I’m delighted for the two players that have been getting quite a lot of stick recently."
